Eighth Division officers with LMPD’s traffic unit responded to a call about a collision between a large truck and a passenger vehicle at about 3:30 p.m. on I-71 North near the Gene Snyder Freeway ramp, LMPD spokesperson Alicia Smiley said in an email.

A child in the passenger vehicle was pronounced dead a the scene, Smiley said, while the two adults were taken to University of Louisville Hospital. The driver of the truck stayed on the scene and was not injured, she added.
