2 killed in motorcycle crash last weekend

Two people were killed in a motorcycle crash this past weekend in Anderson County, according to multiple news reports. The two victims are from Franklin County. They were riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle on Friday, Oct. 6 when they crashed into an SUV on Glensboro Road.

One of the victims, a 63-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. A 66-year-old female was rushed to Frankfort Regional Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries. The relationship between the two riders is unknown at this time.

The person driving the SUV involved in the crash was also transported to a local hospital. Their condition is unknown. It is not known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. It is also unknown if the riders of the motorcycle were wearing helmets.

The police were working on reconstructing the crash scene earlier in the week in an effort to determine how the accident occurred. Autopsies were performed on Saturday, Oct. 7, but results were not released to the public.

The coroner for Anderson County urged motorists and motorcycle riders to wear seatbelts, avoid distractions while driving and follow the speed limits in an effort to promote overall highway safety.

Motorcycle riders are also urged to operate their bike as if all other motorists around them do not notice them. They should never assume that they will be seen.
