Alleged drunk driver claims the life of a Jefferson County woman

A 35-year-old man has been charged with murder for his alleged role in causing a fatal Jefferson County, Kentucky, crash the afternoon of Monday, May 22, 2017. The crash, which occurred around 12:30 p.m., along National Turnpike, claimed the life of a 41-year-old woman at the accident scene.

In the accident report, released by Louisville Metro Police Department, it describes the defendant as having been driving his maroon SUV along the Outer Loop portion of the highway at the time the crash occurred. As he did, it's reported that he lost control of his vehicle and crossed the center line into oncoming traffic in the process.

It's from crossing that center line that the man made contact with the front end of the decedent's gold Oldsmobile. The woman suffered multiple instances of blunt force trauma as a result. She succumbed to her injuries at the accident scene.

She was also carrying a passenger at the time. Although that individual was transported to the hospital from the accident scene, the injuries were not considered to be life threatening. As for the defendant in this case, he too was transported to the hospital from the accident scene with relatively minor injuries.

He has since been charged with a number of crimes including assault, murder, wanton endangerment, reckless driving and DUI for his involvement in the causing the fatal car crash. If convicted on these charges, it will provide a Jefferson, Kentucky, wrongful death attorney with the necessary ammunition to seek damages against the man for the woman's life he is alleged to have claimed way too soon.
