Kentucky car accident kills passenger

Receiving news that a loved one has been involved in a car accident is terrifying. Instantly you find yourself worrying about the extent of their injuries and wondering how such a thing could have happened. Sadly, this is the more positive outcome than the reality that many families in Kentucky face each year. Countless lives are lost in preventable road accidents, simply because some people drive irresponsibly.

It only requires a brief lapse of judgment for everything to go wrong, as one driver in Kentucky learned after being involved in a fatal accident in Louisville. The 45-year-old driver allegedly admitted to drinking beer and smoking marijuana before driving. That evening, he is believed to have lost control of his vehicle, which careened up over the curb and shot off into a field.

Sadly, the passenger in the vehicle suffered multiple injuries in the course of the crash. He is believed not to have been wearing a seatbelt. He was pronounced dead at a hospital, having been killed by multiple instances of blunt force trauma. The driver of the vehicle now faces drug and DUI charges as well as charges relating to murder and assault. He was also charged with a failure to have his insurance up to date. His bond has been set at $100,000.

Of course, matters are rarely so simple. If you lose a loved one in a car accident, you may not know what to do. Grief takes time and it can be difficult to focus on other things. However, under the statute of limitations, you must file your complaint as soon as possible if you want it to be valid. Whatever the case, an attorney may be able to advise you and guide you through the process.
