Distracted driving and speeding accidents by the numbers

It's one of the types of misconduct that can feel perfectly innocent because it sometimes seems like almost everyone does it. In much the same way that we might sneak into a movie theater with some snacks in our pockets, we lead-foot it around town and don't think twice about it. However, while getting caught with some snuck-in candy at the movie theater might earn you a reprimand, the consequences of speeding can be life-altering.

Semi truck slams into police car, kills officer

We rely on trucks to get the stuff we use every day across the county. Without them, packages wouldn't be delivered, our food would never get to our local grocery aisle and important construction equipment couldn't get where it needs to go. However, truck companies and the drivers they employ have a duty to the general public to conduct their oversized machines with the utmost care. Drivers should receive proper training and should never be made to drive when they are fatigued. For their part, drivers have a responsibility to not drink or use drugs that could impair their ability to drive.

Motorcyclist killed in Kentucky July Fourth weekend

July Fourth weekend was a fantastic time to get out and enjoy a motorcycle ride on Kentucky’s beautiful highways and byways. The weather was beautiful in many areas, and, as always, the scenery was unbeatable. Unfortunately, as is the case all across the country, the Fourth of July is also a dangerous time to be on the road. It’s generally a time of revelry and that usually means the consumption of alcoholic beverages. Impaired people make inadvisable decisions to get behind the wheel and risk their lives and the lives of others in the process.

Drunk driving accidents increase around Independence Day

The Fourth of July is a time to celebrate our independence and all the things that make our country great. For many, it’s also become a time for drunken revelry, which is perfectly fine when handled responsibly. Unfortunately, because of their impaired judgment, many end up driving while intoxicated over the holiday weekend and wind up killing themselves and others.

2 Kentuckians killed in horrific truck accident

As a general rule, accidents involving tractor-trailers are about as bad as it gets. The overwhelming size and power of such vehicles can turn them into awesomely destructive weapons. Add alcohol, fatigue or negligence to the mix and you've got a recipe for disaster on your hands.
