Bus accident in Louisville sends 12 to the hospital

Many people opt to take public transportation because it is cost effective and convenient. At the same time, many people expect to be safe aboard a bus because drivers generally must meet certain qualifications in order to work in mass transit. Still, bus accidents can and do happen.

Transportation officials recently indicated that a public bus was involved in an accident with an ambulance in Louisville. Apparently, the bus collided with the ambulance, which was not responding to an emergency at the time of the accident. As a result of the crash, 11 bus passengers and one of the first responders in the ambulance were brought to local hospitals to receive treatment for injuries.

Emergency service officials say that the injuries suffered as a result of this accident didn't appear to be life threatening following the crash. However, the accident victims may want to monitor their health closely in the weeks after the accident. Certain injuries may not be immediately apparent after an accident.

The cause of the bus accident was not apparent at the time of initial reports. Any subsequent investigations could play a major role in determining the accident victims' rights. By having clear knowledge of what legal options exist under Kentucky's personal injury laws, those who were hurt may be able to recuperate medical expenses and other losses related to the crash.

In this case, it may be possible for accident victims to seek compensation from the agency responsible for the bus service. Unlike many car accidents between two private individuals, it may be possible to hold more than one party accountable for contributing to an accident. To add to that, filing a claim against a municipal agency may be complicated without the assistance of a knowledgeable professional.
